Below is a list of the members of staff who work for the Thalidomide Trust.
Each entry details the staff members role and their primary responsibilities within the organisation.


Dr Martin W. Johnson BD PhD MSc FRSA

Director

Responsibilities:

  • To serve the beneficiaries under the guidance of the Trustees
  • To maintain the reputation of the Trust
  • The day-to-day operation of the Trust
  • To maintain and develop forward planning for the Trust
  • The control and proper distribution of the annual income of the Trust
  • To ensure that the Trust is adequately staffed
  • To take steps to ensure that all funds are spent prudently and that all reasonable economies are effected
  • Providing the Trustees with all appropriate support in the performance of their roles and duties

Mrs Sue Brooks

Secretary (PA to Director)

Responsibilities:

  • The provision of secretarial and administrative support to the Director
  • Secretarial support to the Trustees
  • Secretarial support to the Management team

Mrs Louise Bayliss

Office Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Office Administration Support
  • Administrative Support to the PA to the Director
  • Administrative Support to the Finance Department

Mr John E. Hurley BSc FCMA

Finance Director

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Director in his financial responsibilities to the Trustees and by the provision of all statutory financial reports
  • Supporting the Trustees in their financial responsibilities for the Trust by providing them with financial reporting and the management of income and expenditure
  • Supporting the beneficiaries of the Trust by the processing and payment of grants
  • Liaison with fund managers controlling the investment funds of the Trust
  • Maintaining the financial planning for the Trust
  • Providing the National Advisory Council with the financial information necessary for the performance of its duties
  • Monitoring changes in relevant legislation (to include Charity, Employment, Health and Safety and Financial Law) and advising the Director and Trustees accordingly
  • Ensuring the accurate recording and maintenance of the financial and beneficiary information of the Trust

Mr Philip Jackson

Accounts Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Processing payment requests
  • Maintaining trust financial records
  • Preparation of financial records

Mrs Michelle Hodson-Curran

Welfare Manager

Responsibilities:

  • To oversee and develop the general welfare support provided by the Trust to its beneficiaries, and to:
    • manage the HealthLink service
    • manage the Volunteer service
    • manage the Independent Living service
    • manage the Individual Beneficiary Review programme

Mrs Anne Horton

HealthLink Coordinator

Responsibilities:

  • Empower and enable beneficiaries to access appropriate health care services
  • Promote and support independent living for beneficiaries
  • Provide Advocacy support for beneficiaries when appropriate
  • Gather relevant information about the health needs of beneficiaries

Mr Tim Darrington

Independent Mobility Adviser

Responsibilities:

  • The supervision of the Trust vehicle fleet
  • Advising on aids to mobility and home adaptations for beneficiaries
  • Advising on home and respite care provision

Mrs Linda Patching

Secretary

Responsibilities:

  • Secretarial support to the management team
  • Office administration support
  • Database maintenance

  • Medical Adviser to The Trust

Dr Dee Morrison MB ChB

Medical Adviser

Responsibilities:

  • To oversee and develop the health advice provided by the Trust to its beneficiaries, and to:
    • Provide clinical supervision of the Healthlink service
    • Facilitate medical/health advocacy for beneficiaries
    • Enable beneficiaries to use electronic health tools to improve their care
    • Provide support for clinical research
    • Provide advice and support for the trustees
