Behind The Healthcare Statistic
Trust beneficiary takes part in a Disability and Healthcare podcast in association with Cardiff University
Gill Tyrer, a beneficiary from Wales, has recently taken part in a podcast discussing the way that disabled people are treated in hospital. She was joined by Sally Sheehy, Health & Wellbeing Coordinator at the Trust, who is a qualified nurse.
The podcast is aimed at healthcare professionals, in particular student nurses linked to Cardiff University.
Speaking from experience, Gill talks about a number of different aspects of consultations, treatments and recovery where healthcare can be improved for disabled people.
One of the key messages for professionals is to focus on good communication with the patient at all stages of the healthcare process. This is essential to ensure that any specific requirements are discussed and adequately prepared for.
