The group are positive and forward thinking, always looking out for ways that new and emerging technology can help make the most of their remaining vision.

VisionAid guest speaker presents innovative products to help visually impaired people

VisionAid Technologies Ltd, a family owned & run business who have been providing solutions to assist partially sighted & blind people for over 25 years were asked to attend and talk through some products. They are one of the largest specialist low vision & blindness product suppliers in the UK. Their range of over 1,000 products has been tested & selected from over 100 manufacturers around the world.

VisionAid joined the online group to show some new innovative products -  Nu-Eyes and Oxsight Onyx. Both are wearable devices which can be used to watch TV, read, see faces, and craft. VisionAid recognises each individual has different needs, and more information is required about specific eye conditions and level of remaining vision before deciding on the right product for you.

Anti-glare products

Large glasses with orange tinted lenses to prevent glareSome eye conditions make glare from the sun or artificial lighting more noticeable. Glare can often be a problem with restricted vision. Fit over glasses with different coloured lenses can assist by reducing glare and accentuating contrast for the wearer, but everyone is different. It’s best to experiment with different lenses colours to see what works for you as these are likely to be different whether you are inside, using a computer or outside. Lenses come in a range of colours.
