Lorraine Mercer collects her MBE from Princess Anne

Lorraine Mercer has been honored by the Queen with an MBE for services to the community and to charity in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.
Lorraine joined the Chaplaincy Volunteers team in September 2005 at the Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. The team visit wards within the complex of The Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.  Lorraine is a regular visitor and her visits are routinely to the wards that have patients recovering from serious acute conditions for which they need re-rehabilitation. As most of these patients will need to become accustomed to being in a wheelchair for a time or even for their future, Lorraine can seriously empathise with them and so that is a particular encouragement that she can bring to the patients.
