Men’s Health Awareness Week 2021
This week 14-18 June is Men's Health Awareness week - join us for our events
Earlier this year we worked with the ‘Men’s Health Forum’ where two of our male beneficiary volunteers, Richie Pearse and David Tickell, received training and are now ‘Men’s Health Champions’.
The Thalidomide Trust's Men’s Health Forum Events
During this week we are holding two events to raise awareness, provide support and encourage beneficiaries to talk about a range of men's health issues. You can read information on some of these issues on our Health Issues Affecting Men website page.
Men’s Health Forum webinar
Dr Susan Brennan, Medical Adviser, will be holding a webinar about Men’s Health, hosted by Darren Mansell and introducing our two new volunteer Men’s Health Champions. There will also be a Q&A session afterwards.
Visit our Men’s Health page to watch the recording of this webinar and Q&A session.
Lunch with the Boys event
Richie and David are holding a ‘Lunch with the Boys’ webinar on Friday 18 June at 12.30 pm. Our male beneficiaries are welcome to attend and this will give you a good opportunity to chat with our Men’s Health Champions.
Richie and David will talk about their role, plus be happy to talk about any health issues or concerns you have. Although they may not be able to answer all your questions, they can certainly signpost you to get help and advice or say what is available in the local area.
For further information on either of these events please call the Health & Wellbeing team on 01480 474074.
The Men’s Health Forum campaigns and information
The Men’s Health Forum are concentrating on two campaigns this year relating to men’s health. These are:
- Let’s talk mental health – (in a covid-19 world)
- The CAN DO Challenge – Better mental health and wellbeing don’t only come from talking. There are five working days in the week and five ways to wellbeing. Their new CAN DO challenge challenges men to try each of the five ways to wellbeing over the course of Men’s Health Week.
For more information on these campaigns, please visit their website
The Men’s Health Forum website offers support and advice on health issues affecting men. They have the following resources available to buy:
