Glasgow Local Event

On 10 July 2017 we held our first “Local Event” in Glasgow.

This was a new initiative - many people had told us that they would prefer not to have to travel so far to events and also that they were sometimes put off by large organised meetings. So we thought we would try something different.

The Glasgow event was held in an easily accessible central location and was open to anyone living in Scotland or the north of England.

The event was attended by Trust staff, representing Finance, Admin, Health and Wellbeing and the senior management team, as well as two NAC representatives and one volunteer beneficiary. There was a brief joint presentation from the Director and the NAC representatives, but the main aim of the day was to provide an opportunity to drop in, have a coffee and meet the team, ask questions and share information. We also arranged for local services, such as financial advisors and personal trainers to be available to talk to attendees.

Around 18 people attended and the feedback was very positive. In particular attendees told us they welcomed the opportunity to meet staff and other beneficiaries in a relaxed informal setting.

Following the success of this trial event, we will be rolling them out more widely and plan to hold about two a year. The next Local Event will be held in Belfast in early July 2018, followed by Bristol in late September 2018. More details on these events will be published in due course.
