World Health Day 2024

globe surrounded by a stethoscope as the letter O in the words World Health DayDid you know that this year's World Health Day theme is 'My health, my right'

The World Health Organisation celebrates this event every year on 7 April to focus attention on specific health concerns that affect everyone. This year’s theme was chosen to champion the right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, and information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions, and freedom from discrimination.

Keeping yourself healthy – Move more!

The Trust’s view is that the single most important thing you can do to improve your health is to move more.

This doesn’t need to be joining exercise classes or going to the gym, the focus is on moving around more as part of your daily routine. For example:

  • walking rather than driving short distances where possible
  • doing a bit of gardening or cleaning
  • simple exercises which can be followed online or on videos

The Trust’s Activity Buddy volunteers can help to get you active in a way to suit you. Find out more about Activity Buddies and how to request support.
